The Reverend Johnny Calvin Smith has a powerful message for all mankind.  This man of God speaks without reservation, proclaiming the gospel of grace, calling for repentance, faith, and hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.  Rev. Smith is in his sixteenth year as Pastor of the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas.

 

He received his formal education in the Dallas Public School system, earning his diploma from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1970.  He furthered his education by earning the following degrees and certifications:

II Timothy 4:1-2.  Ordained as a Minister at Mount Moriah in 1977, he began in 1982 serving as Director of the Board of Christian Education until accepting the pastorate in 2007.  Additionally, he has served as a Sunday School Teacher, Instructor of Evangelical Training Association; and Mount Moriah Disciple Institute.  He has also served as a part-time Instructor at Southern Bible Institute since 1985.  He rightly divides the Word in his inspirational column, “Devotional Thought From The Word” published in The Dallas Post Tribune.


Pastor Smith and his wife, Violet,  have been married for over 45 years and are the proud of parents of one daughter, Joy (Brad) McBeth and two sons Rev. Jonathan (Christina) Smith and Rev. Jared (Erica) Smith.  They have been blessed with eight grandchildren, Josiah, Jillian, Jeremiah, Jessica, Jackson, Jedidiah, Jordan and Judson. 


Pastor Smith has a great love and devotion for his family and a sincere passion and concern for the youth of today.  As a retired Mathematics/Science Teacher in the Dallas ISD, Pastor Smith expresses “I am praying that youth of today will remain steadfast in their walk with the Lord and avoid the pitfalls of seemingly worldly pleasures presented by Satan.”
